Well, it's 5pm right now, and I didn't actually wake up all that long ago. =P That's because this year's annual "eve" party at my house was yesterday, Christmas eve (last year was New Year's, I think). People started coming at 10pm, and the last group left at 3:30am! It was lots of fun! Our house was totally packed, and we still have lots of food leftover too.
Since I've been working all break, it didn't really feel like Christmas time until last night. Really, there's nothing like friends and family to make a holiday. Speaking of which, I just have to say, as wonderful as all the presents from my friends were (thanks so much, guys!), nothing beats my family for gift giving.
My brother got me one of those jumbo Avalanche garbage cans, plus an Avalanche stool!!! So cool!! I always look at these things and want to buy them, but they're too expensive for me to actually buy for myself!! What a great brother!! And my mom (and dad too, but I'm pretty sure my mom usually picks out most of the gifts) absolutely rules!! Every year she manages to get me the most perfect gifts. I don't know how she does it! I wish I could be as good as her at gift giving some day! She bought me the Millennium Actress dvd which is amazing because I really wanted it, but I never actually mentioned it to her! Then there was the Myth and Magic pewter Legolas figure. No, it doesn't look like Orlando Bloom, but I still llike it because Legolas is cool, not the actor in the movies. Once again she put cards in my stocking, and this year they were the Canadapost NHL All-Star stamp cards. They're really pretty! And I got a Bourque one, which made me very happy! She also got me the dvd boxset for the second season of Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon R), which I was planning on eventually getting, when I had enough money. But the clincher, the absolute clincher was the UPPER DECK SERIES ONE BOX!!!!!
I swear, when I opened it, I just sat there with my mouth open for a good two minutes!!!! She was all worried that I wouldn't like it, but of course, it's exactly what I wanted!! I had been planning on waiting until next year's Fall Expo to buy it (it's a lot cheaper to buy them when they're last year's series), but of course it's much more fun to get them when it's a recently released series!! My mom woke me up and we opened up the entire box together! See, there's nothing like opening hockey cards together for family bonding time! =P Anyway, I can smell the food downstairs, and my stomach is growling, so I'm off!
