Whining

Sorry, as the subject suggests, I'm going to spend a good chunk of this post whining! ^^;; I'll try not to be TOO pathetic, so please bear with me!

Anyway, it's the first week of classes and already I feel like I've got WAY too much to do, and too little time. My Japanese is taking up far more time than I expected. I have a one hour class four times a week, which isn't so bad, but I also have a quiz every day too! Not only that, but the course handout says "students are expected to spend a couple of hours to prepare class and review, do homework outside the class every day". @_@ I've only had two classes, but I can already see that "a couple of hours" is not an exaggeration. We haven't even really learned anything yet, and tonight I already spent two hours on Japanese--and I had already done most of the homework before tonight! I don't know how I'm going to survive this class.

Then there's my Japanese history. We don't have to purchase any texts, but we do have required readings which are available in the library, plus our prof made it pretty clear that he expects us to be doing a fair amount of reading on the various topics on our own. @_@ Maybe it's just me, but that makes me feel like I should be reading Japanese history/culture related stuff ALL the time. This is going to be hard for me, because even though I love learning about Japanese history/culture, I've always had difficulty sitting down and reading anything non-fiction. And I've tried before, believe me.

ARGH.

So yeah, I most definitely picked the wrong time to start commuting AND to get a part-time job. It wasn't so bad waking up at 5:30am to be in work by 7:00am today, but when school gets harder, I don't know if I'll be able to cope. Luckily my boss understands that school has to be my priority, and she did say that I had to tell her if I couldn't manage, so we'll see how things go.

Man, I'm paying in spades for all of my freetime in first and second year. I don't know if I'm going to be able to enjoy hockey, anime, or reading without guilt this year either. *sigh*
