Finding Nemo

Finally got a chance to watch it! I went with "the parents" (my parents and a bunch of moms plus one single friend around their age), but that was okay too. It's funny how I'm fairly anti-Disney in general, but I don't mind Pixar stuff. I think it has something to do with the fact that Pixar uses original stories. The first time I started getting peeved with Disney was Pocahontas. Before the Disney movie came out, I had read a book about the real Pocahontas, and in that story she was about 12, and John Smith was a jerk--basically a "villain" actually. I don't remember the details now, but when I saw the Disney rendition, I was highly offended that kids would be learning from such a misrepresentation of history. Sure the movie wasn't claiming to be anything but fiction, but when you use a real historical figure and put in enough similarities to make it seem like you're trying to do a movie based on history, I believe you have an obligation to either be true to history, or make it totally clear that what you're presenting is most definitely NOT historical, and that it's not meant to be. So yeah, that's my beef with Disney. It didn't help that I wasn't particularly impressed with The Hunchback either (again having read the story beforehand).

But yeah, I DID enjoy Finding Nemo.

Anyway, I just realized that I've made a bit of a booboo with my budgeting. See, I bought meat and stuff for my softball league's mid-season barbeque, and I thought I paid for everything with Interac. So when I paid myself back for the food (I'm the league treasurer), I treated the money as spendable. I figured that I had already taken the money I had paid for the bbq into account when looking at my bank account update, so I wouldn't need to put the money towards a credit card bill or anything. Apparently I was wrong. ^^;; I actually paid for the meat (~$80) with my Visa card, so I'm going to have to pay that bill by the end of the month. But just before I figured that out, I bought a bunch of hockey cards (and put an equivalent amount in savings) and picked up a whole bunch of graphic novels and dvds ($200 worth, actually ^^;;). It's not a big problem--I will be able to pay off the bill easily enough--I'm just a bit bothered by the fact that I didn't pay enough attention to my accounts. Sure I'm spendthrifty, but I'm usually not careless. Bleah. What a bother.
