Thank goodness I've gotten somewhat comfortable on the ShoujoMagic channel, because if my first experience had been on Omanga, I probably would never have used mIRC ever again!
I tried to use the @find function for the first time ever on the Omanga channel--which might not have been the best idea, I admit--and I found an fserve, but it wasn't given in the typical /ctcp... form, just "!weaksauce" or something. (!whatever is how you use triggers, like !rules, !list, etc. on mIRC.) I wasn't exactly sure what to do with just that, and I noticed someone just typing it like a trigger on the channel, so I thought I'd try too.
Well, that wasn't so bright either, as a few messages later someone named "Solus" was talking about the person whom I copied, saying "it's not a trigger!" Then they noticed my copying and said "not again". ^^;; I was kind of embarrassed, so I apologized and explained that I hadn't thought it would work, but I saw someone else doing it, so I thought I'd try too.
Then this guy/girl "Solus" was like: "I have a tip for you: don't copy stupid people, it just multiplies the stupidity in the world" or something like that. It was really very arrogant and rude of him/her. Even worse, apparently this person is somehow an admin as well, and he kicked me off the channel with the message "(put brain into gear first. ·11·)".
Sheesh. Y'know, at first I was kind of amused by the whole thing, but the more I think about it, the more I get irritated! It's a wonder that people even bother to join that channel! I know that I'm never going there again. XP
At least there was one nice person, who sent me a private message saying that I shouldn't apologize because this Solus person is just a jerk (his/her words, not mine) who spoils people's fun. That was nice because otherwise I would have felt pretty dumb, but the message assured me that it was an honest mistake, and that Solus was just being, well, a jerk about it. This person is also the person who told me that Solus is in fact admin, since I wasn't sure if regular people have the power to kick people off or not.
So yeah, that's my mIRC story. *sigh* The things I do to get manga!
