Spending Spree (Again)

Eh heh heh...Would you believe that I've already spent almost half of my nearly $1000 tax refund? (^^;;) Yeah, my spendthrifty habits are showing themselves again. Thursday, after my last class for the year, I went down to Yonge Sports and ordered two customized jerseys, a Sakic Avs away, and a Kaberle Leafs away. The Sakic was actually an early birthday present from my mother (I charged it, and she's going to pay the bill), but I paid for the Kaberle on my own. So that was about $144. Plus there was the Nordiques home jersey that I picked up earlier in the week, which was around $37. (I'm at $181 so far). Add to that volumes 1-19 of Hanakimi, plus Fruits Basket volume 11, which I haven't paid for yet, but will probably end up at around $145 [edit: I just paid for them, and it was less than I thought, ~$133). Then there's the birthday present I bought for a friend which is another $40, approximately, and finally the box of hockey cards I'm planning on getting and splitting with a friend (about $60) and you've got $426 already spent or budgeted for spending!! @_@

Thank goodness I had so little faith in myself that I transferred $500 to my savings account right away, otherwise I probably would end up spending all of it, which is an insane amount to go through in such a short period of time. What makes this even worse is the fact that I haven't gone to pick up my anime in some two or three weeks, meaning that I've probably got a sizeable stack of graphic novels and dvds waiting for me which I can't really afford, despite my windfall. (^^;;) Obviously I haven't learned anything from the numerous financial planning workshops and messages I've heard recently. I'm just lucky that I'm going to be working one more day this month, and that it's my birthday, so I'll have some money coming in. It's also a good thing that I just got a tutoring job.

Ah well. I guess the important thing is that I did save half of my tax return at least. Last year I didn't even do that much. Of course, last year I didn't really get taxed, so I didn't get much back either. It's definitely going to be interesting looking over my expense log at the end of the year!
