Man, my balance hasn't been this low in a really really long time!! My chequing account is down to less than thirty dollars!! Thank goodness I gain some comfort knowing that I'm not totally broke, I just don't have money to spend (I've still got stuff in my savings account, which, in a rare act of prudence, I set apart as "untouchable" in my mind). I guess I should've been more responsible about saving money and stuff since I've known for a while that "death month" was coming up. (^^;)
But really, all these anime companies are EVIL! EVIL I tell you!! Pioneer especially!! If I haven't said it enough in the past, I'll say it again: Pioneer is the worst company for totally gauging customers!! I mean, I spent sixty-five dollars for a single volume of Chobits plus a "limited edition" box! By golly, it had better be limited!! If they come out with a boxset, or even a boxset with the same box I'm going to scream. Sheesh, not only that, but I could've sworn the thing was supposed to come with special stationary or something. (-_-#)
Anyway, I preordered the thing and I paid for it willingly enough, so I guess I don't have a right to complain. ADV isn't much better; I paid seventy bucks for a disc, a box and a T-shirt. I really wish companies would stop with the T-shirts. Who wants them when they're XL anyway? I don't know the numbers, but I'm pretty sure the majority of the population doesn't consider XL to be their correct size. Hmph. That's the only marketing ploy I don't buy into. I take the T-shirts because they're forced on me, but if I had a choice, I'd rather spend less and do with the T-shirt. But at least Noir has five episodes, Chobits only has four.
I really wish more companies would take do like Funimation and put six or seven episodes on a disc! Even though the price of the third disc myseriously increased by a third, with only an addition of one episode, that's still a heck of a lot better value than Pioneer titles like Ayashi no Ceres or X TV which were/are worked out to be fifteen dollars an episode, which is ridiculous.
Oh, and I've still got two graphic novels being kept aside for me. I couldn't pick them up or I'd have been totally flat broke. Not to mention, I have the option of picking up the RahXephon disc w/artbox (another sixty, minimum) which I really wanted, but didn't preorder. Geh. That's definitely not happening until I at least get a couple hundred back into my chequing account. I'm not totally insane.
The good news is I got to borrow some twenty-six more episodes of Hikaru no Go for free! ^_^ And thanks to BitTorrent I've also watched an episode of Piano for free. It evens things out somewhat.
