I never really thought about it much before, but after watching Rudy I just realized how un-stereotypically-girly my tastes in movies is. The only movies that I really want to watch in theatres, for example, are action or sci-fi/fantasy or other big epic special effects movies. And even outside of theatres, I'd take a good action flick over a sappy romance anyday. Of course I also love comedies, which aren't really stereotyped for gender one way or the other.
Actually, I also really love sports movies: Remember the Titans, Rudy, even the Mighty Ducks! Still haven't seen Any Given Sunday, though. =( I think I even watched The Replacements in theatres, although that had too much sappy romance for me... It's very strange. I mean, I don't play sports, but I love watching them--just think of my hockey mania (still going strong, by the by).
But then again, when it comes to anime, I'm pretty girly. I think at least 50% if not more of my anime collection is shoujo, and probably 95% for my manga collection. ::scratches head:: I wonder why that is; for anime I watch just about everything, but for North American live action films I rather shun "chick flicks".
Ah well, whatever. I think I want to go do a search for more sports films now, so that's it for today!
