Heheh...As usual, I'm way late! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I certainly did, which is why I haven't updated in the past five days. ^^;; Anyway, where to start?
Well, on the 23rd I was horribly sick. I woke up totally nauseated but I couldn't get myself to throw up, so I was just miserable (and nauseated) the whole day. Sorry, that sounds pretty gross, but believe me, it felt gross too. Yeah, so I stayed in bed for pretty much the whole day, trying to sleep whatever was wrong with me off. I only got up to go to the bathroom and to eat dinner. I skipped breakfast and lunch because there wasn't anyone around to force me to eat, and besides, I didn't think it would do me any good to eat while nauseated. So that was Monday.
Luckily I was fully recovered on Tuesday because I had a big Christmas Eve party at my place. I think maybe ten or twelve people came for dinner, and more people dropped by throughout the night to chill, talk with friends, and to play NHL 2003, speed Scrabble, and mah jong. Very fun. It was pretty much non-stop eating and fun until around 4am when the people who were playing MJ with me left. I cleaned up at MJ too! We start out with 200 worth in chips, and at the end everyone was in debt to me except for one other player, who was left with 6 in chips. =Þ I've never played that well in my life! Then before I went to sleep I opened my present from L., and it was so beautiful I wanted to cry! She gave me a handmade ornament, a friendship book, and a tagbook (?) with my name as an acrostic poem! It was the sweetest thing ever. I also opened up some of the presents from my parents. =D They know me SO well, it's awesome. You know, some people get socks and stuff from their parents, but mine gave me the LotR: FotR gift pack!! It's been sold out online forever! It's got figures of the entire fellowship, lined up in the same order as in the ads/posters/&etc.--you know, the silhouettes of them all on the horizon. I was totally surprised by that one! The two that I was expecting was the McFarlane limited Toronto Maple Leafs 3-pack of figures, and the Ashton-Drake "Go Leafs Go!" doll. ^_^
Since I slept around 5am, I woke up around 12pm on Christmas day. My mom came in and asked if I'd checked my stocking (I have a Colorado Avalanche stocking on my door because it was just too cute to resist), which I hadn't, and I looked inside to find 18 packs of McDonald's hockey cards!! There had been twenty, but my mom couldn't wait so she opened two when she bought them. =Þ So my mom and I sat in my room and tore into all twenty packs. It was really fun. Then my dad came into my room and I brought up their presents from me and they opened them. After that we went downstairs to tackle all the presents from friends.
The best card I was received was definitely from my friend Jen. It came in this tube that she made which opened in the middle. Inside the tube was a whole bunch of little marshmallows and a card, which read: Yummy Fresh Snowman Droppings! Straight from the North Pole!" or something like that! ^_~ I almost died laughing. It was great. She also made use of one of my previous blog posts and got me a second McFarlane Sakic figure so I could open it!! His hand are made of a really cool material! They're soft enough that you can open them to put the (hockey) stick in his hands, but they're firm enough that they stay closed around the stick! Way cool. I also got a really funky cookie press from another friend! If I'd had two sticks of butter that day, I would've made cookies just to test it out right then. Another friend gave me the Kaiyodo Cowboy Bebop Spike figure, which is amazing because I didn't even know there was one out, or I probably would've bought it for myself! Oh, and back to hockey, another friend gave me the amazingly thoughtful gift of a tape of the Colorado @ Vancouver game in which Joe Sakic scored his 500th goal!! It's very special to me because I wasn't able to watch the game since it wasn't broadcast in Ontario, and I could only listen to it on the internet and watch the replay's of Sakic's goal. Now I have the entire game!!
Anyway, we did end up having a white Christmas, so after all that I went outside and helped my dad shovel snow. Then we went for dinner at a family friend's place, and that was lots of fun too--more talking and eating!
Boxing Day I didn't bother to go shopping. I slept late and just relaxed until some more friends came over to our house for dinner and Mandarin karaoke. I didn't really know most of them, so my friend Grace and I went upstairs to watch Spriggan. An interesting movie, if not the best anime I've ever seen. At least I don't regret buying the dvd, so that's good. She went home after that because she was feeling kind of sick--since the beginning of the night, actually--and I watched a special screener/preview dvd from Funimation. It had the first two episodes of Fruits Basket and a sneak preview of Dragonball GT, all dubbed, naturally, on it.
Fruits Basket was GREAT!! I can't believe I didn't watch it at Utarpa! I'm seriously considering going to pick up the dvd really soon. The only thing that's stopping me is common sense, which tells me to wait for a boxset. Then again, it's only supposed to be a 4-disc series, so I'm probably not going to be saving that much anyway... It's a kind of romantic comedy that incoporates elements of the Chinese zodiac! I've always loved the Chinese mythology surrounding the zodiac, especially after reading Strings of Fate, so it's really perfect for me. Oh, and I preordered the special edition first dvds of .hack//sign, Noir, and Chobits too. Come March I'm going to be dead broke again. -_-;;
So that's been my holiday thus far. Tonight I'm going to a friend's place for dinner. Apparently I've got stuff to do on Sat. and Sun. as well, and Mon. I'm going to be hanging out with a bunch of church friends. Then after New Years, Jan. 2, I'm going to be watching The Nutcracker with some family friends. Busy busy busy!
Oh yeah, and before I forget, check out my draggy (dragon) at the bottom of the left nav bar, after the webrings stuff! Isn't he cute? I need to name him, so any suggestions would be very welcome! Merry (belated) Christmas all! Hope everyone's having a safe and happy holiday!
