Chicago!

Lucky! I went to Comic Den to pick up the final volume of Princess Nine (can you believe it, only $15.95!), and happened to notice the Chicago graphic novel sitting out on the counter. The reason I noticed it was because I recognized the art style of Yumi Tamura Legend of Basara). Isn't that cool?

Okay, so maybe you think it's more confusing than cool, so allow me to explain. A couple of years ago I discovered this awesome anime called Legend of Basara, which was based on a manga series by Yumi Tamura. The anime was and is very well done, and I loved it except that it was designed to be inconclusive. Yup, the anime ended around the eighth volume of the manga, and there are about twenty-eight manga so there was a lot of story left unresolved! Anyway, I've been meaning to buy the manga once I have enough money, but I haven't been in a huge rush since I don't think anyone's even translated the entire series yet anyway. Or if they have I haven't found it on the net yet.

SO, since Viz licensed Chicago, another work by Yumi Tamura, that means that there's a reasonable chance that they'll eventually license Basara as well!! HOORAY! I really want to find out how the story ends! Of course, Chicago is an excellent work in its own right, so I'm glad it got it, but I'm even happier that there's a better chance now that Basara will be released domestically.
