My plan was to clean my room right after I got back from residence. Sometime during July (two months later) I cleaned out my closet and started to organize my room. Note that I said "organize" and not clean, because all I actually managed to accomplish in two days was to create many different stacks of things--my book, library books, cds, anime, stuff for the basement, etc.--on my floor. As the days passed I went shopping and got more stuff to stash into my room, and soon the stacks on my floor weren't even organized or even remotely neat anymore.
Then my goal became to finish "cleaning" my room before I got my wisdom teeth out at the beginning of August. While I was recovering from the surgery, I did so in a still very messy room. Shortly thereafter I decided to have another go at it. Again, I threw some stuff out, and made lots of piles, but didn't reveal a heck of a lot more carpet.
Now I've pretty much moved back into my residence for the school year, and you can still only see half of the floor, if even!! I think the reason I have such a hard time cleaning my room is that I have so much stuff that don't actually have anywhere except for the floor to put all of it! Sure, I could rearrange my bookshelves and whatnot, but there'd still be a vast overflow of paraphenilia without a space apart from the carpet. Well, that and the fact that I'm pretty lazy and easily distracted. =Þ My only hope for getting my room clean will be the incentive of knowing that my dad won't be able to redo my room (with more storage space, and framed hockey photos!) until I clean it up first! Egad, who knew that a packrat gene could be so troublesome?
