Anime Day!

The official release date for Kare Kano (Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou--"His and Her Circumstances") was today, so naturally I rushed out to One Million Comix (a store) to buy the first volume with a box (So you can buy the individual discs and still have a box, rather than waiting for a boxset) during my lunch hour. Since I also found out that Princess Nine vol. 5 had already come out, I picked that up too.

Naturally, the first thing I did when I came home was pop a disc in and start watching!! Aaaahhhh.... It's been a while since I've had such a great anime experience. I mean, I finally finished watching Ayashi no Ceres with my friend a few weekends ago, but the ending wasn't as great as the start of the series, so it wasn't as enjoyable as watching Princess Nine and Kare-Kano today.

Wahhh!! ^_^ I'm SO content right now. Can't wait for the rest of the series!! Even though I've heard that there's an awful ending to Kare-Kano awaiting me, I still want to see more!!

It's so great! Can you believe, I actually listened to the dub track first! Of course, I wouldn't have normally done that, but we're planning on showing it in September in my anime club, UTARPA, so I was checking it out to see if we could use the dub track. See, in September we try to attract new members, so it's always nice to have "anime in English" on the schedule so that they're not scared off right from the start by the idea of reading subtitles all night.

What else to say? I'm still starry-eyed from watchin Kare-Kano, I'm having a hard time being coherent (as I'm sure you've noticed). The box design is only so-so, but the individual dvd box is neat. It's got a totally different centre holding device thing from anything I've seen before. It looks pretty secure, not too likely to break during shipping, and it's easy to get the disc out. I'm kind of afraid that I'll manage to break it, though. Think I still like Scanavo. I know people complained about how hard it is to get the discs out without bending them, etc. etc., but I've never really had a problem, and the cases really do hold the discs well, and I'm not afraid I'll manage to break the centre piece either.

Gah, gotta finish my laundry so I'll have clothes for work tomorrow!! Anyway, next anime night (I can't believe summer's half-finished and I haven't had an anime night yet!) I'll definitely have Kare-Kano and Princess Nine on the schedule!! They're great!!
