UM....

Not much to talk about today. Any deep thoughts I might have had were wiped out by sheer exhaustion. I don't know why I did it, but after coming back from the meeting in Waterloo, I ended up staying awake until almost 3am! Since I woke up around 6am, I only had three hours of sleep! Okay, so I do know why I stayed up so late, but well...

Dumb dumb dumb! You'd think by now I'd know better than to start a book late at night, or I'd have enough control to put the book down at a decent hour! As it was, I didn't finish the book last night (this morning), so there really wasn't any point in staying up until 3am just to get more part way through, if that makes any sense. @_@ Sometimes I really don't know why I'm so silly.

My eyes were SO dry this morning. Then, at work, I felt like I had something in my left eye, and it really hurt! Since my eyes were so dry though, even rubbing them didn't help! For ten minutes or more I tried to get whatever it was out, but to no avail. I still feel a bit of irritation in my eye now, but it's not as bad as it was then. All because I didn't get enough sleep!

Another problem with sleeping so late is that I rarely manage to catch up on that lost sleep (no wonder I'm so short!). It's strange but true that once it hits about 10pm, no matter how tired I was before, I'll wake right up and not feel the need to sleepfor a long time after. It's not that I can't sleep, it's just that I have to force myself, make a concerted effort to go to bed by 1am, because otherwise I won't drop off to sleep from fatigue until the wee hours of the morning.

I've always thought my nocturnal habits might be useful in Japan. With the 12-13 hour time difference, assuming my internal clock didn't change, I'd actually feel awake during daylight hours and get sleep at night! Too bad I've kind of given up on the idea of teaching in Japan. I still kind of want to teach English in Japan, but I know that I want to teach English the way it's taught here, and I'm not sure how many openings are available for teaching international school English in Japan. Besides, I've always known that being Chinese would be a drawback in Japan. No matter that I've lived in Canada all my life, or that English is my first language, they still want teachers who are white, or, at least, not "Oriental." A sad but true fact of life.

On a totally unrelated note, I recently purchased a "No Ordinary Joe" poster from eBay, as well as a Yzerman auto'd picture! ^_^ I'm very happy, especially since my dad even encouraged me to buy the Yzerman photo! I asked him if I should get it, and he said yes! Really, I was quite shocked. I had to ask him again, to make sure he was serious, before I bought it! Almost seems like he's more understanding of my hockey mania than my anime craziness... Then again, auto'd photos he could always frame and hang tastefully, whereas the anime posters covering my walls just irritate him. =Þ I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm living on my own; I'm going to have the strangest mix of decor ever! How can you mix anime and hockey in a decorating scheme successfully? Too bad there aren't any hockey anime. THAT would be absolutely perfect! ^_~
