Before I move to my main topic, allow me to say that tonight was one of the messiest games of hockey I have ever seen. I don't mean the playing--even though Don Cherry recognized some sloppiness, it wasn't readily apparent to me--but the roughing. Those fights that broke out in the last twenty six seconds were just ridiculous. I'd blame it mostly on McCarty and Chelios for jumping into the argument between Brind'Amour and that Red Winger (don't remember who) because until they entered the fray, the two were mostly just exchanging words. If they, McCarty and Chelios, hadn't made it into a three on one situation, who knows, maybe the rest of the 'Canes wouldn't have gotten involved the way they did. xP I don't like unnecessarily rough games when finesse is just so much cleaner and more impressive.
Anyway, hockey is not my main subject tonight. Before my bud and I went off to our respective universities, I gave her a graduation/university gift, and in the card I wrote a "list." It wasn't just any list; it was a list outlining my requirements for a boyfriend/potential future husbnad. =P And yes, it was as silly as it sounds.
See, I'm extremely content with my single status, but my friend has sworn that she's going to find me a guy and end my bachelor days. So, just to make life hard on her, I made her the list. ^_~ So, here it is:
- Christian: this one is serious, because faith is something so fundamental that if two people in a relationship don't share it, I really don't think it would work (the relationship, that is), and I don't mean a Christian in name only; I've struggled a lot with making my relationship with God real, so I wouldn't expect anyone to be a "super Christian" to support me, but I've got to know that he takes being right with God as seriously as I do
- otaku: okay, so this one's not so serious, but it's still pretty important, because anime's a big part of my life--an obsession, even--so even if he wasn't as big of otaku as me, he'd have to at least like anime
- hockey fan: even better if he's a hoceky player!! a new one for me; if you've read my entries these past few weeks, you'll understand ^_~
- intelligent: both academically and in a common sense kind of way; I don't have a lot of patience with people who I perceive to be stupid (it's a failing of mine, I know ^^;;)
- well developed sense of the ridiculous/absurd: my sense of humour is a bit off, so I'd need a guy who could understand that; no one likes laughing alone
- understanding of Chinese culture: doesn't have to be Chinese, I'm not particularly myself, despite the heritage, but it's still somewhat important to me, so he'd have to at least be open and willing to learn about it
- cellist: =P hey, I've always thought the cello was a cool instrument, and one of my favourite things about Shinji (from "Evangelion") was that he played the cello, so why not? besides, this is my wishlist--no one said it had to be realistic!
- jazz voice: in grade ten I went with my vocal jazz group to a vocal jazz competition, and I fell in love with the voices of all those pro jazz singers! again, my dream!
- outgoing: or, at least more outgoing than I am; I believe in balance (and opposites, to a degree), and I also think that two quiet people together, well, they're not going to have a lot to talk about, right?
- punctual: it's really hard on a relationship if you can't even trust a person to be there when they say they will be, y'know? believe me, I've had a lot of experience with this myself, it's awful to be constantly doubting a person about this, even though it seems like a small matter--although, I need to work on my punctuality a bit too... ^^;;
- clean: lived with messy suitemates (only some), NOT a fun experience
Can't remember/think of much else right now. I'm sure it's changed quite a bit since I first presented my pal with the list (take the addition of the hockey requirement, for example), but I think the big ones have remained the same. ^_^ Remember, this is just my "wishlist" so it's not like I actually expect there to be a guy out there who both fulfills these "requirements" and is interested in me. =Þ It's just kind of fun to think about these things, if you know what I mean. ^_~ Hey, if you want, send meyour list and I'll post it up!
