Sometimes you hate being right. Throughout the game, I kept thinking, they're gonna lose. I want them to win, but they're gonna lose. And I was right.
Still, it was an amazing game, and if the Leafs keep playing the way they were today, well, we might actually have a chance. =P
Man, nothing can beat the drama of hockey. Nothing. No score for two periods. Then Hedican scores on Cujo in the third. Roberts gets two penalities, and Kaberle gets one with a minute something left to go on Roberts' penalty. Two man advantage to the 'Canes and I was on the edge of my seat, fists to my mouth, heart beating like a psychotic drummer. The Leafs kept them out, of course, but they were still losing, 0-1. Time's running out. Cujo's benched and there're five attackers. Leaf's are in the zone, but it's not enough. Clock's ticking, less than a minute to go. The Leafs're in the 'Canes' zone, but they're still not getting anything in. Less than ten seconds to go....then...YAAAAAAAA!!!!!! SEVEN POINT FOUR seconds before the end of the third period, and McCauley ties it up.
Once the Leafs got into overtime though, I really knew that they were gonna lose. I mean, they were playing hard, but they were just having too much trouble in their own zone. Everytime the 'Canes got it into the zone, I was on the edge of my seat again, ready to bite my nails right off. I wanted the Leafs to win, but it wasn't such a big surprise when Wallin got the OT goal.
Doesn't matter though, Cujo's still my hero. He blocked a heckload of shots in the second period. The 'Canes were outshooting the Leafs something fierce. Awesome! Maybe when my second paycheck comes in I'll be able to afford some Leaf gear, preferably Cujo related. Cujo rocks! I'm gonna be glued to the screen come Tuesday, you'd better believe it! I don't scream on rollercoasters, or when people try to scare me, but I'll scream for hockey! I really yelled "YAAAAAAAA!!!!!" when McCauley got that goal. Absolutely amazing. More drama than a daytime soap. I am Canadian. I love hockey!!
