What can I say. As much as I've come to love hockey, tonight's game was just so horribly pathetic. It has nothing to do with the fact that the Leafs lost 0-3, and everything to do with the fact that they weren't playing their best tonight, not even close. Or, if they were, they were doing a heck of a good job disguising it.
I said it when I first started watching, and I still hold to it, as much as it conflicts with my desires: the Leafs are not going to win the Cup. And I'll add that it's highly unlikely that they'll even win the series, unless some miracle occurs or they finally feel the slap of reality, suck it in and really play well, for goodness' sake!
Man, I'm getting a headache just thinking about the game tonight, so I'm going to do my best to erase it from my memory.
Yesterday's game, on the other hand, was an amazing watch. I think my favourite line of the whole playoffs was this piece of commentary from last night: "Roy scrambles here and does a snow angel, but manages to keep the puck out somehow." Yeah, it doesn't sound like much when you don't have the visual to go along with it, but I'll tell you, it was quite amusing to see Roy floundering about the way he was at that point in time. Plus, with the comment about the snow angel, the picture of this big hockey player, in full goalie gear, lying on the snow, making pretty little snow angels (a "girly" thing), well, the image was and is so incongruous that it can't help but make me smile. ^_^
The level of skill in the Western Conference is just amazing, especially when you compare it to the Eastern. I may be proved wrong, but I can't help but believe that between Colorado and Detroit, whichever team wins the series will win the Cup. Just hope it'll be Colorado. =Þ My friend said that "Joe Sakic is old," but I still think he's cool. Besides, he's one of the few hockey players whose face I can actually recognize!
Anyway, thanks to the playoffs I haven't been getting enough sleep, and that's probably why this morning, along with my cold, I was running a slight fever. Since this weekend is Anime North, I'll need to keep healthy long enough to enjoy it. ^_^ Hate to do this, but really, it's highly unlikely that I'll get a chance to update before Sunday or Monday. So, in advance, have a good weekend all! (Let's just hope that the Leafs perform the way I know they can, and win on Sat.!)
