As a kind of continuation of my discussion on "True Love", I thought I'd post the standard that I use to evaluate whatever I call love. It's a passage that is quite well known, especially if you're a Christian, but I think that it's really beneficial and important to think about the passage and what it means each and every time that you read it, and not to just skim over it. If we think about all the love relationships that we have--with family, friends, significant others--and hold them up to this passage, I think we'll find that, sadly, we fall short, but if we keep holding up our love to this passage, and use it as a standard, a goal for the type of love we'd like to show others, then I think that our relationships with others will be greatly changed. So, here it is, Ephesians 13: 4-7:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.
So that's it. I hope that you'll think about this passage and really ask yourself: does the love that I feel for so-and-so measure up to this standard? How can I try to get closer to reaching this ideal?
Interesting News: The news section of Anime Nation for Friday, April 5th described the three different DVD editions of Miyazaki's "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi," a.k.a. "Spirited Away," that Studio Ghibli and Buena Vista (Japan) are planning on releasing in Japan this summer. The limited edition and the "Ghibli DVD Player Bundle Edition" sound really tempting! Check out the link to the picture of the DVD player, it's pretty neat! Ah, if only I had the money...
Plug of the Day: Directions of Destiny: This is a beautiful webcomic that I stumbled upon through a link of a link, if you can follow that. I'm not really sure what it is about the art, but it reminds me a bit of the flashbacks in the Utena movie (some of the clothing reminds me of Utena as well). Yeah, so reading the comic gives me the feeling of watching scenes from the past; it's an interesting and not unpleasant sensation, certainly. At any rate, as I said, it's beautifully done, so it's definitely worth checking out!
P.S. - Sorry, again, this is kind of a cop-out post, and I didn't post anything yesterday either. ^^;; Losing an hour to Daylight Saving Time this weekend has really messed me up, especially since I've been really busy. Still, it's not an excuse for my inconsistency. All I can say is that I'll try to do better, really!
